Rachel and Kayla, A Blue Barn Affair!
September 30th 2017, Rochester, NY
“Kayla and I met online on an app called Tinder. For me, seeing her picture immediately gave me butterflies. I waited almost a week until we matched and when we finally did all the words I could muster up were “Happy Friday”.
It somehow worked because we talked non stop every day. We would fall asleep on the phone together and FaceTime every chance we could. We lived 2 hours from each other and she drove to Rochester to meet me for our first date.
Our first date according to her was horrible she thought I wasn’t into it but for me it was my nerves, plus she beat me in darts so I was being a poor sport.
It was The way she smiled and laughed, the way she took on the world with pontaneity and a heart full of adventure, I knew I needed more of her in my life.
So with a little begging we had another date, which went much better and she agreed. After 6 months of long distance, traveling every weekend to see each other and making trips to Boston and NYC Kayla decided to move to Rochester.
We enjoyed every minute of every day that we could. We spent weekends with family and friends and continued to travel to fulfill our love of craft beer.
After just shy of two years of dating, we took a trip to Riveria Maya and I had plans to propose on the beach after seeking out an amazing photographer, Lidia. The proposal happened exactly how I imagined and the photos to this day remind us of how beautiful that moment was for us. A few weeks later, Kayla proposed to me after recreating our first date and our wedding planning began!
Our love has persevered us through the toughest of obstacles in the few years we have been together.
Every time I see Kayla, I smile from the inside out. She’s my best friend and my soulmate. My favorite part about being with her is that we have yet to stop “dating”, we always ask each other out in cute ways and we still say “Happy Friday” almost every Friday and it makes us smile ear to ear. We can’t wait to see where married life takes us…. but it will probably be to more breweries!”
